Easter Newsletter 4

Hi, hillwalkers!

Hope you managed to enjoy at least a little of the weekend's sun; it made our day trip to the Chilterns especially lovely. Warm from the glow of that, I'm happy to announce our final trip of the academic year, to Ennerdale in the Lake District. Also, advance tickets for our ceilidh are still available, so book now! It'll be more expensive on the door, and you won't want to have missed out. Finally, watch out for our upcoming social bulletin!

  1. Ennerdale trip, Lake District, 9th to 11th June
  2. Advance tickets for 16th June ceilidh

Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre, Ennerdale, 9th to 11th June

Nestled between Pillar and High Stile, the bunkhouse is in the less-visited Western Lakes, at the end of Ennerdale Water and within walking distance of Scafell Pike. A converted 17th century farmhouse, it's one of the more luxurious huts we visit, with 40 beds, a couple of open fires, a games room, a freezer, and 'a most spectacular night sky' [1]. We’ll leave Cambridge around 17:00 on Friday the 9th June and be back well before midnight on Sunday the 11th June. Places may be limited by transport, and the trip fee is £42.

To sign up, e-mail the Presidents at, before 6p.m. on Sunday the 4th June, stating your name and (if you'd like) the names and e-mail addresses of up to 2 people with whom you'd like to go. Places will be assigned at random, with either all or none of the people you name getting a place, with the same likelihood as if you applied alone. If you get a place and drop out, you'll be less likely to get a place on future trips, and if we're unable to find a replacement you'll have to pay for your place.

If you've any questions about kit, check the website for our kit list and list of what you can borrow. If that doesn't help then e-mail our Safety Officer, Callum (

If you've any general questions, there's basic trip information on our website. If that doesn't help, feel free to drop me an email (
