Michaelmas Newsletter

This term we've ventured to the Peaks, the Lakes, Snowdonia and the Cheviot Hills. We've enjoyed formals at Jesus and Pembroke, a pub crawl, and our regular pub meets at the Castle Inn. Even as Michaelmas draws to a close, we've still got Christmas Curry Night to look forward to on Tuesday 3rd December.

New Year Vacation Trip (Jan 3 - 9)

For our New Year Vacation Trip, we'll be returning to one of our favourite National Parks: the Lake District. We've booked Boot School House in Eskdale - a bunkhouse accommodating up to 24 people - from January 3rd to January 9th. There are excellent walks from the doorstep, and inns serving food and drink just five minutes from the bunkhouse - just what's needed after a hard day's walk! The area benefits from good transport links, with the Eskdale to Ravenglass miniature steam railway just 300 metres away.

The bunkhouse costs £10 a night. You can come for the full stay (January 3 - 9) or for just a few days - just let us know what you'd like to do when signing up. While participants should organise their own travel, there may be the possibility of sharing a car. If you'd like to share one, enter your details into our transport wiki and we'll see if we can organise something. Passengers agree to pay their share of the petrol costs.

If you'd like to take part, sign up here stating your name, email and (if you'd like) the names and email addresses of up to two people with whom you'd like to go. Signup for this trip is on a first come, first served basis and 14 people have already signed up, so sign up soon to avoid disappointment. Note that if you get a place and drop out and we're unable to find a replacement (more likely the later you drop out), you'll have to pay for your place.

If you're interested in taking part and you have any questions, please contact our President, Mary, at cuhwcpresident@gmail.com.
